Was I correct calling the cop on these teenagers?

Teenagers were playing on the road in front of my house. I was on the internet. All was quiet just the coqui frogs were making lots of noise. These teenagers were making lots of more loud noise due to playing somewhat soccer on the road %26amp; in front of a business area. I couldn't handle anymore especially when their ball went into my property %26amp; the 2nd time the ball hit my son's car which the alarm went on. My son went out %26amp; they went away. At that time I called the non-emergent to report the incident. A cop came by to talk to me. Told them I just don't want to cause a conflict but I couldn't handle anymore especially when they come to retrieve their ball in my property which is considered trespassing. I felt bad calling the cop but I had to report in case any damage was done. At least this way if I had any damage I could report the damage to my insurance. Sometimes calling the cop relieves the situation. The cop did talk to the teenagers. So far so good! Was I correct calling the cop on these teenagers?
You were right. Their ball even hit your son's car, and they took off, right? That means that if they did any damage, they had no intention of taking responsibility for it. If they want to play, I am sure there are parks in your area that they can go to.Was I correct calling the cop on these teenagers?
No! They're teenagers playing a game, give them a break! Weren't you young once? It's hardly like they were sitting outside smoking crack and throwing rocks at your windows is it?! God help us if you can't even have a game of footy without the police being called!!! Shudder to think what your reaction would be if you ever encountered a serious criminal offence
u did the right thing god if they hit my car with the ball they would of needed an ambulance.
what you just descriped is everyday life in the city where there is no park or large yards to play in.

So the ball rolls into your yard and they come and get it.

I think it is over reaction and unless this is at 4 am but during day time hours, there is no real law violation and nothing the police can do if they do come except talk to the kids
Werent u a teenager? Didnt u hate the ppl who called the cops because u accidently did something or you were just being yourself. You probably told yourself that you would never be like that person and now u r.
Come on BOO radly.. Put some ear phones on, it is not just about you. They are kids, let them have fun while they can,
YES YOU DID RIGHT

I WOULD OF DONE THE SAME THING
wow dont be so paranoid about a soccer ball hitting a car it cant do any dammage if there just harmless kids kicking it around you should have had your son shoo them away in the first place not call the cops after it all happend
if the teens find out it was you that called cops, then you better board up your windows!!
Why not just go out and talk to the kids yourself? Its not like they were doing drugs on your lawn and throwing used needles by your car. How much damage can a soccer ball do?

Call the cops if they are harming you or damaging your property. Doesnt seem like they were doing either. Sounds like you over reacted just a little.
Children should be seen and not heard. You did the right thing.
I believe you have answered your own question.
I believe you were right to do that. Besides, better safe than sorry. Be happy you don't have the same kids as my neighborhood does lol....12-year-old wannabe gangsters. Hah.
would you rather they were on the side walk outside your yard selling drugs all quiet like

they are just kids tring to play if they are not doing any damage then just let them be also damage to your car it is called comprehensive if you have full coverage then you have this
Part of the problems that todays kids find themselves in is because they do not have the freedom to go outside and play like we used to have. I can remember riding my bike in the neighborhood streets and playing street hockey in the street. Now, if a person under the age of 21 is seen outside trying to be a kid, some adult is offended and calls the police on them. They probably would have not been so loud if they had been sitting on the curb smoking weed.
It was dangerous for them to be playing in the road in the first place.

In the second place, if they had been hurt while retrieving the ball on your property, YOU would be liable.

Take steps to protect yourself, and the children.

Wonder where their parents were, and if they knew or cared what was going on.

Perhaps a first step should really be to get to know the neighbors a little better. Be tactful and show genuine concern, and don't be accusatory. If you want respect for yourself and your property, you should try to resolve things with a positive attitude and suggestions. You catch more flies with honey, than ';ratting them out to the cops.';
