Why do teenagers like TEXTING so much?

I'm a teenager and I just got a cell phone and all I've gotten are Text messages. I think it's kinda stupid. Why not just TALK to the person if you're going to have that long of a conversation TYPING. Anyone agree?Why do teenagers like TEXTING so much?

well i use to text because like with a guy sometimes it could be awkward talking and there would be weird silence and through text its not as awkward and there really can be any silence but other then that i would call on phone.the guy thing always was better through text
generally i feel that way


but sometimes im in a situation where it would be weird to call and talk, like when there are lots of people around and i know theyd be listening to my conversation


or when im watching tv and just want to make little jokes during the commercials
I think it's easier for me to say what I want to say while I'm texting. And, my life is busy, with schoolwork and after school stuff. You can text during all of that. :]
you can text lots of people at the same time, there's no awkward silences. you don't get trapped on the phone with a blabber mouth
I text because when you talk to someone you run out of conversation sometimes.
because it's addicting
