How about a Mystery Party. You can buy kits for a whole group. My mom did it once and it was great! You have each person dress up as their character. Its alot of fun. Or one time for my birthday we did a fear factor themed party. My mom bought a whole bunch of REALLY gross food (ex.octopus, canned yams, tofu, dog biscuts, ect..) it was alot of fun! The person who ate the most stuff won a prize.

best new years eve party I had was we all had a big fire in the backyard %26amp; roasted marshmellows, drank beers %26amp; just hung out. then we played twister %26amp; funny games like that. idk if u have it but we rented american idol for ps2, you can actually sing into a mircophone %26amp; get voted for, it's so funn.

i think that a luau party would be fun, or you could go with a costume party
white party where everyone wears white clothes, or japanese theme, basically is just alot of japanese stuff on the location where you are having the party and will be eating in the trditional japanese style, and have food that is normal eatin in japan than in us.
