I want to become a cop that goes undercover in high shcools and busts drug dealers. Just like in 21 Jump Street!
Is there such a job? Is it just called an undercover cop?
PS. I am in high school right now and plan to attend John Jay College of Criminal Justice when i graduate.
Thanks in Advance :)Cops that pretend to be teenagers in high school?
i think you just become a regular cop and you might get that as an assignment in bigger cities with drug problems...Cops that pretend to be teenagers in high school?
This does occur but rarely in police departments. The FBI does this more often. The reason being police officers usually live in or in a close proximity to where they work. Therefore they have friends, relatives, aquaintances etc whom know them, thus making the officer being ';made'; a possibility which would unnecessarily put an officer in jeapordy. With the FBI they can take an agent from west virginia, for example, and place him in an undercover assignment in New York and chances are he will not be discovered. I would say the likelyhood of you getting into a position like this as a police officer would be slim to none. In addition you dont just walk into undercover assignments. You have to go through the police academy, and spend a decent amount of time as a patrol officer before you would be considered for an undercover assignment. If doing undercover work is your goal, go for a large police department, but go to college first! good luck.
You simply need to be a very young looking officer. There are big city departments that have such operations, I've seen them go on. Its not a regular assignment, but more of a specialized thing when they have a specific target.
Yeah, try going undercover with gangs. You'd have to look pretty young to go undercover in high school. Besides, if you were busted, you would have a bunch of angry parents on your tail.
There are undercover cops, but normally not in high schools. That is just television. Undercover cops normally work drugs and gangs.
